About David
I’ve been in private practice since 2002, providing individual therapy, couples counseling and group therapy, helping hundreds of people along the way. My area of expertise is treating 20- and 30-somethings, assisting them with concerns they have about their relationships and career.
I’ve been featured several times by local and national media — MSN, Good Morning America, match.com and The Washington Post — for my work on relationships, stress management and managing the holiday blues. I like to write about mental health-related topics, so in addition to posting regularly to my blog, I’ve contributed articles to several websites and magazines, including Clinical Psychiatry News, ivillage.com, 4therapy.com and Bethesda Magazine.
Prior to starting my psychotherapy practice, I worked for four years at Seminole Community Mental Health Clinic outside Orlando, Fla., where I provided therapy and counseling to children, adolescents and adults. I received excellent training from psychiatrists and therapists at the clinic, a place dedicated to teaching student interns and young therapists.
In 2001, I moved back to Washington, D.C. — I’m a native Washingtonian — and worked at Washington Hospital Center, where I was the lead outpatient therapist and provided clinical supervision to colleagues. In 2006-08, I worked part-time in the emergency room at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md., assessing patients in crisis.
I received my master’s degree in clinical social work from Florida State University in 1997. I received my undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Rochester (NY) in 1990. I hold social work licenses in Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
